April 4, 1958 Will Rogers Jr arived at Ladd Air Force Base and was flown in an Alaska Air National Guard C-47 to Barrow, Alaska. Will Rogers Sr. and pilot Wiley Post died on Aug 15, 1935 at the northern most tip of Alaska in an aircraft accident.
On May 28, 1958 Elmendorf Air Force Base welcomes the Alaska Air National Guard for 15 day encampment. One Hundred members of the Alaska Air National Guard received motor vehicle, aircraft radio and electronics training.
May 31, 1958 saw the first flight of seventeen baby moose via a Kulis ANGB C-123J aircraft to Juneau, Alaska. This was the start of a permanent moose population at Berner Bay between Juneau and Skagway Alaska.
